Don is our paint department head at Merrett Home Hardware Building Centre, and has been with us for over 14 years and brings over 30 years of paint industry experience to us and our customers.
Don is a Paint Expert through Home Hardware, attending yearly training. In his spare time, he enjoys antique cars and motorcycles.

Jamie M
Kitchen and Baths
With almost 12 years under his belt at Merrett Home Hardware Building Centre, Jamie brings his past experience as a sales representative with a cabinet manufacturer travelling throughout the USA.
To keep busy, Jamie runs 5 and 10Ks and the odd half marathon! Relaxing for Jamie means listening to music and playing vinyl, specifically blues, rock, classical and international music. I also like swimming, which means a lot of floating, nothing strenuous, and I like to travel periodically.
Q & A with Jamie
- I have worked at Merrett HH for almost 12 years this November.
- I worked for a local cabinet manufacturer about 25 years ago as a Sales Representative where I travelled extensively throughout the US.
- I like to run 5k, 10k and the odd 1/2 Marathon. I like to read non-fiction and biographies. I like listening to music and playing vinyl, specifically blues, rock, classical and international music. I like swimming, which means a lot of floating, nothing strenuous, and I like to travel periodically.
Ian
Contractor Package Sales and Beaver Homes and Cottage
Meet Ian – One of our department heads for Beaver Homes and Cottages who also supports contractor sales.
We have had the pleasure of having Ian at Merrett’s for seven years and prior to that Ian owned his own construction and landscaping business for 25 years.
Always wanting to learn more, Ian has taken both design and estimating courses, and in his spare time, he enjoys time with his family at the cottage in his boat. He is also an active member of the Cavan FC soccer club.

Nate
Contractor Package Sales and Beaver Homes and Cottage
Nate, who shares the dual role of department head of Beaver Homes and Cottages with Ian also supports our contractor sales department.
Coming up on 11 years with Merrett Home Hardware Building Centre, working in this area comes naturally. “I grew up in a family that works mostly in trades so I had a decent starting point for understanding construction.”
Eager to keep learning, Nate has taken construction estimating courses, a few business management courses and more, and as his role is evolving, taking the Architectural Technician course through Centennial College on a part-time basis. Nate recently received his BCIN qualification making him a Qualified BCIN Designer.
Filling most of his spare time with design work, he cherishes relaxing with his dog (Winston) and spending time with his partner.

- How many years with Merrett HHBC?
I’ve worked here for 10 years, coming up on 11 years. - Any other relevant experience to the department you now manage?
I wouldn’t say I have any relevant experience prior to working here as I started fresh out of highschool. Though I grew up in a family that works mostly in trades so I had a decent starting point for understanding construction and what not. - Any post secondary courses that are relevant to your current job?
Sort of, I did a few construction estimating courses and some business management courses about 7-8 years ago. More recently, and as my role has evolved I started taking the Architectural Technician course through Centennial College, part time.) I also recently got my BCIN qualification making me a Qualified BCIN Designer. - What do you like to do in your spare time?
Honestly, I don’t have much, I am filling most of my spare time now with design work. But when I do I typically relax with my dog (Winston) or spend time with my partner (Which is even more rare as they also work full time and are full time student)
Sherry
Contractor Sales & Deliveries Co-ordinatory
Sherry is our Contractor Sales & Deliveries Coordinator and also supports our social media and marketing contractor for Merrett Home Hardware Building Centre.
Working with us for just over five years, Sherry has been in the sales field for over 25 years and has owned, operated and managed her trucking company.
She took Business Management in college and in her spare time likes to camp, fish and spend as much time as possible with her beautiful daughters and granddaughters.

Mike
Installs
With almost 18 years at Merrett Home Hardware Building Centre, most of our customers are very used to seeing Mike around. As our head of Installs, life experience fills Mike’s arsenal of skills, tools and tricks in the installs department.
“Nothing quite like learning (good and bad) on the job” says Mike, “no one can teach you that”. In his spare time, he enjoys his kid’s sports.
